Booths Card

Booths retired its app.
Your Booths Card did not go anywhere.

Booths' own app page now reads "Sorry, the Booths App is no longer available." The card in your wallet still works exactly as it did. CardJar is a loyalty card wallet with no account at all, and it will hold your Booths Card on your phone so you stop carrying the plastic one.

What the card actually is

A seven-digit account number, and nothing more complicated than that.

Booths' own cardholder FAQ describes the card as a seven-digit number, and says you can read yours out of your online account as soon as you register, weeks before the plastic one arrives in the post. That number is the whole card. The barcode printed on the back is the same number in a shape a till scanner can read.

Which means it moves. Scan the back of your card with CardJar, or type the seven digits in, and you have it on your phone. CardJar recognises the scheme, fills in the name, and colours the card in Booths' own blue so you can find it in the jar without reading anything.

You do not need a Booths app for this, and you do not need an account with us. There is nowhere to sign up.

CardJar is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Booths. It is a wallet that holds the card you already have. Points, offers, your balance and anything to do with your account stay with Booths, where they belong. If we have anything on this page wrong, tell us and it gets corrected.

Why a general wallet, rather than waiting for another app

Booths is not unusual. It is just further along.

Booths ran an app and then withdrew it. The card stayed. Loyalty schemes often outlive their apps, and the number on the back of the card never changes.

A wallet that holds any card is not affected by that at all. Booths could ship a new app next year, or never, and the seven digits in CardJar would keep opening at the till either way. The same is true of every other British scheme CardJar knows, from the ones with polished apps to the ones that have only ever been a piece of plastic.

There is no CardJar server either. Your cards live on your phone, so if we stopped tomorrow, the app would keep working.

Putting the card on your phone

1. Get the number

Off the back of the plastic card, or out of your Booths account online, where it is shown as seven digits.

2. Scan it or type it

Point the scanner at the barcode and CardJar reads it. No barcode to hand? Type the seven digits and pick Booths Card from the list.

3. Star it

Favourites go to the top of the jar and onto your watch, so the card is one tap away with your phone still in your pocket.

Already have a camera roll full of loyalty card screenshots? CardJar reads every barcode out of every picture you pick and adds them in one go. See the page for people moving from Stocard.

Questions Booths cardholders ask

Is there a Booths Card app?

Not from Booths. Its own app page says the app is no longer available, and points cardholders back to the website instead. There is no replacement announced. A loyalty card wallet like CardJar holds the card instead, with no account to make.

Will the barcode on my screen scan at the till?

Yes. The barcode is just your account number, so a scanner reads it from a screen the same way it reads the plastic. CardJar turns the brightness up when a card is open, which helps older scanners catch it first time.

Can I see my points and my offers in CardJar?

No. Showing a balance would mean CardJar holding your Booths login. Your points and offers are on the Booths website. The app holds the card. Booths holds the account.

What if I lose my phone?

The card is a number, and Booths still has it. Sign in to your Booths account on the new phone and read the seven digits out again. If you would rather not do that by hand, CardJar can save all your cards to a backup file locked with a passphrase you choose, and a new Android phone set up from your Google backup arrives with your cards already in it.

Does this work without a signal?

Entirely. The card, the barcode and the retailer list are all on the phone, so the app opens in a Booths with no reception exactly as it does at home. It has never needed a network for anything you do at a till.

Is there an iPhone version?

Yes. It is on the App Store, for iPhone and iPad, and a Booths card works the same way as on Android. There is no Apple Watch app. On the wrist, it is Wear OS only.

Can I add my Booths Card to Apple Wallet?

Not as a Wallet pass, because Booths has never issued one for this card. CardJar holds it instead, full screen and ready to scan on your iPhone, so you can leave the plastic one at home. Which UK schemes do issue Apple Wallet passes.

One card fewer in your wallet, and no account to make.

Free, with nothing to sign up to, and 84 British schemes recognised on sight, Booths among them.
